Introduction of USB 2.0 Cameras

PixeLINK is pleased to announce the addition of USB 2.0 interfaces as an option for its line of Machine Vision and Microscopy cameras. The USB 2.0 interface will address customers who prefer USB as the method of connection or who don’t want to install a FireWire interface in their PC.

We developed the USB 2.0 interface in response to strong customer demand and we expect to see a sharp increase in sales, especially in the microscopy market” said PixeLINK President and CEO, Michael McKay. “Customers who dislike installing FireWire cards in their PCs, now have an alternate and convenient choice that really provides ease of use.

Neither interface will affect the excellent image quality and overall functionality of the PixeLINK cameras. “Apart from a slight reduction in frame rates with the USB 2.0 interface, only the interface and driver are different. Everything else has remained the same” says McKay. “The choice of interface is transparent to our application software so programs developed to work with our FireWire cameras will also work seamlessly with the USB 2.0 cameras. This provide maximum flexibility and choice to our customers.

PixeLINK will offer the USB 2.0 and FireWire interface as an option on all its machine vision and microscopy cameras. The USB 2.0 interface will become available on select models in October 2006 and the entire line will be available by December 2006.
